Listening to Bible stories and it is great. I will have to listen a second time with a note book to write down the references. Friends have doubted my sanity when I have said that the best thing a christian could do is have lots of babies and kill them right away to assure their entry to heaven. It is great to find a kindred spirit who has obviously thought about this all a lot more than myself. Thank you so much. Bob

Well Satan would have to do all of the acts that all of the men did under God's direction in the Old Testament. Rape, pillage, murder, and every single evil act that you can think of. It is not surprising that you cannot think of anything because your morals are warped. However, I just gave you a list of things that the devil would have to do so he can be considered evil.

The sad thing is that if you read your bible, Satan is responsible for 10 deaths (in the book of Job - Yahweh made a bet with the Satan) and Yahweh is responsible for millions.

Michael,
Thanks for making these talks available. Very interesting to a 'recovering Christian' like myself.
I am confused by the no free-will argument. You say:
"Free will does not exist. Freewill is an illusion. Granted, it is a very convincing illusion, but it is an illusion".

Later in the same talk:
"Spiritual liberation is about understanding that your mind is free to think whatever you want, to believe whatever you want".

Freewill does not exist, but the mind is free to think? Seems like a contradiction?

Hi,

I really enjoy your stuff - but I noticed that the audio files for "Heretics and Heresies" are missing...I'd love to give that a listen sometime.

An I can ask those of no faith one question: What acts of evil would the devil have to commit for you to consider him to exist? If you can´t answer that, then you cannot claim to be a person that can judge the soundness of any other persons morals!

I always ask those of faith one question: What acts would God have to commit for you to consider him evil? If you can't answer that, then you cannot claim to be a person of sound moral judgement.

Amazing audio book! The Platinum Rule is brilliant alternative to the objective morals of the Bible. I look forward to listening to the rest of these. Thank you!

Dear Mike...If you remember me, I was the Thomas Paine advocate who gave a talk at a Unitarian Humanist gathering a few years ago. That day you gave me a copy of your book. I've read it, actually several times, along with frequently listening to your wonderful audio pieces. But yesterday, I turned to the book again. My current passion is Palestine, and I had spent the day reading about the Israeli settlers/settlements and the whole Gush Emunim catastrophe. I had to cleanse my mind of all that horribleness, and your book was the antidote. I'm glad to see your website still here. I hope you are well and are still doing such good work. 11/27/11
